Brisbane football fans will have a front-row seat to cheer on the Socceroos at the FIFA World Cup™, with a free live site set to bring the tournament action to the iconic South Bank.
The World Cup live site at South Bank’s Cultural Forecourt will kick off from Sunday 14 June, featuring live match screenings, food trucks, and a family-friendly atmosphere in one of the city’s most loved destinations.
The live site will screen all three Socceroos matches, with extended viewing on match days so fans can enjoy more tournament action throughout the day and soak up the full World Cup atmosphere at South Bank.
Additional screening days may also be added across the tournament, subject to demand and operational requirements.
Safety will remain a priority at each event, with security on site to help ensure a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said South Bank would provide the perfect backdrop for Brisbane fans to enjoy the FIFA World Cup™.
“World Cup fever is coming to South Bank, giving fans and families a free riverside live site to cheer on the Socceroos and enjoy the ultimate fan zone,” Cr Schrinner said.
“As Australia’s lifestyle capital, Brisbane knows how to turn major sporting moments into city-wide celebrations and South Bank is the perfect place to bring football fans together.
“From lunch by the river to World Cup action on the big screen, we’re encouraging everyone to make a day of it and enjoy the best of Brisbane while backing local business and embracing 50 cent fares.”
Queensland Premier David Crisafulli said the live site would give Queenslanders a chance to come together and share in the excitement on the world stage.
“Queenslanders have waited four long years for the FIFA World Cup to come around again and to see our mighty Socceroos in action again on the world stage will be something special,” Premier Crisafulli said.
“Football is a brilliant way of bringing communities together so to do it in such a high-profile location will be truly special.”
Minister for Tourism Andrew Powell said the live site would not only create a memorable fan experience but also drive benefits for the local economy.
“This is about creating a shared atmosphere where fans can come together and be part of the action,” Minister Powell said.
“By delivering a world-class live site, we’re giving people a place to connect, celebrate and support the team together.
“When the crowds come out, it’s a win for local businesses and a great boost for Brisbane and Queensland.”
Chief Executive Officer of South Bank Corporation, Julia Scodellaro said South Bank has always been a place where Queenslanders come together to celebrate the moments that matter.
“This will be an incredible opportunity for locals and visitors to share in the excitement of the world’s biggest sporting event in one of Brisbane’s most iconic destinations,” said Ms Scodellaro.
“The Live Site will not only create a memorable fan experience but also deliver significant benefits for local businesses, tourism operators and the broader visitor economy.”
“We look forward to welcoming football fans from across Queensland and beyond to South Bank to experience the atmosphere, energy and community spirit that make this precinct so special.”
Football Queensland CEO Robert Cavallucci said the event would be an unmissable occasion for the city.
"The FIFA World Cup 2026 live site in Brisbane will provide a wonderful opportunity for Queenslanders to come together in support of the Socceroos as they represent our nation on the world stage,” Mr Cavallucci said.
"As the eyes of sports fans across the country turn to football in June for one of the biggest global sporting events, we thank everyone involved for their commitment in delivering such an exciting matchday experience for our local community.
"We look forward to having the action and excitement of the FIFA World Cup closer to home for football participants, supporters and the wider community."
The public screenings will mark the first major FIFA Men’s World Cup fan screenings in Brisbane since the 2022 tournament in Qatar, which saw huge support for the Socceroos across the city as Australia made its deepest run at a World Cup in more than 15 years.
The excitement follows the incredible atmosphere created during the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2023, when Brisbane fans packed stadiums, venues and live sites to support the Matildas in one of the nation’s biggest sporting moments.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be hosted in the USA, Canada and Mexico, bringing together the world’s best football nations in a month-long celebration of sport, passion and national pride.
The live site is supported by Brisbane City Council, Brisbane Economic Development Agency, the Queensland Government and South Bank Corporation
