Brisbane’s event calendar is jam-packed with Australian premieres, global conferences and headline-making world-class events across sport, culture, science, design and the arts.

Brisbane understands the business of sport and is fast becoming Australia’s sporting capital. It is part of the reason the city was selected to host the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.  

Brisbane Economic Development Agency (BEDA) leads the city’s Major Events Strategy, working closely with partners across government and industry to support, attract and leverage major events that deliver economic benefits to the city by:

• Attracting out of region visitors to Brisbane, including intrastate, domestic, and international
• Contributing to the local economy, including engaging with local businesses and creating jobs
• Showcasing and promoting Brisbane globally 
• Positively engaging Brisbane residents to generate social and community impact
