Brisbane is primed and ready for a busy weekend of blockbusting events, as the city plays host to the NRL Magic Round Brisbane, the Brisbane Truck Show, and a bevy of cultural events.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner officially welcomed the NRL Magic Round and the Brisbane Truck Show, along with fans, friends and families who are gearing up to descend on Brisbane for an action-packed weekend.
“Hosting the NRL Magic Round and the Brisbane Truck Show enhances our reputation as a destination for world-class events, sporting fixtures and cultural events,” Cr Schrinner said.
“These events also provide a much-needed boost to our local economy and a chance for visitors and locals alike to discover or re-discover our vibrant city.”
Councillor Schrinner encouraged everyone attending the events this weekend, to extend their stay longer, support local businesses and experience everything Brisbane has to offer.
“From our world-class restaurants and riverside bars and cafes to our pristine parklands and tree-lined outdoor shopping strips to our internationally renowned cultural precinct, Brisbane has something for everyone,” he said.
“If you enjoy nature and art, head to the Botanical gardens and experience the contemporary art outdoors displays as part of the Botanica Festival, alternatively take part in Brisbane Powerhouse’s 21st Birthday celebrations or discover the MELT Festival of Queer Arts and Culture.
“There’s plenty more to see and do in Brisbane over this weekend and the month of May.
“I encourage everyone heading to the city for the NRL or the Truck Show to make the most of your time here, step out from the stadium and discover Brisbane.”
