Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism (MBRIT) and the Brisbane Economic Development Agency (BEDA) are thrilled to announce a new partnership focused on accelerating economic and tourism growth across Brisbane and the Moreton Bay region.
This collaboration will harness the strengths and unique assets of each organisation, to achieve shared goals and enhance economic benefits to both regions.
Through this partnership, MBRIT and BEDA will scale up joint activity to drive visitation, boost local businesses, and promote sustainable economic growth of the visitor economy, strengthening Brisbane and Moreton Bay’s positions as premier destinations in Southeast Queensland.
The alliance, one of the first new major partnerships announced as part of BEDA’s new partnership roadmap, will enable both regions to maximise resources and extend their reach through collaborative marketing activity, trade opportunities, and destination experiences tailored to attract both domestic and international audiences.
Luke Edwards, Acting CEO of MBRIT, emphasised the significance of this partnership: “We’re excited to join forces with BEDA, whose expertise in driving tourism across the Brisbane region will complement our focus on tourism marketing, industry, and trade development in the Moreton Bay region. By working together, we’re aiming to showcase the incredible diversity of tourism experiences available Just Up the Road from Brisbane."
Anthony Ryan, CEO of BEDA, said the partnership would support growth across the region:
"Economic development is a team sport, and this strategic collaboration with MBRIT, one of the first announced under our bold new partnership roadmap, will unlock even greater opportunities to strengthen our global reputation as a must-visit destination.
"Additionally, this partnership will support local business growth and capability in the tourism industry and elevate the region’s tourism offering by spotlighting Moreton Bay in exciting new ways. By spearheading collaboration across the region, BEDA and our partners will continue to drive Brisbane’s visitor economy to record-breaking heights.”
The partnership aligns with Queensland’s broader tourism and economic development goals, supporting initiatives to attract new investment and build resilient, diverse regional economies.
Both organisations plan to further expand their collaborative efforts through joint events, in-region business development programs, and targeted marketing and PR campaigns that will be rolled out throughout FY2024-25.
