Brisbane has furthered its commitment to accessible tourism with the launch of the Vacayit Brisbane Audio Guide, a new initiative brought to life through the dedication of Brisbane Economic Development Agency (BEDA).
In partnership with Brisbane-founded audio platform Vacayit, and with the support of Tourism & Events Queensland, BEDA has created a sensory-rich content hub designed to make Brisbane’s vibrant tourism experiences more inclusive and welcoming to all.
Vacayit, a Brisbane-founded business, is a world-first audio platform designed specifically for accessible travel, using immersive storytelling, rich sensory descriptions, and emotive narration to paint vivid audio pictures of destinations - supported by written transcripts for maximum accessibility.
Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said this partnership would help set a global benchmark for inclusive travel.
“This groundbreaking partnership with Vacayit has the potential to transform the way people experience tourism around the world, and best of all, it’s started right here in Brisbane.
“This world-leading approach will help set a new standard in accessible tourism and further reinforce Brisbane’s reputation as one of the most visitor-friendly cities in the world.
BEDA CEO, Anthony Ryan said the Vacayit Brisbane Audio Guide would help more people experience the beauty and excitement of our region.
“Partnering with Vacayit reflects our ongoing commitment to making Brisbane a more inclusive, welcoming destination for all visitors and a leader in inclusive tourism,” Mr Ryan said.
“We’re proud to share Brisbane’s experiences in a way that everyone can feel truly welcomed and explore our beautiful city with independence, choice and dignity."
Vacayit CEO and Founder, Hailey Brown said: “Travel is a deeply human and personal experience, and everyone deserves to feel that connection. Vacayit was founded not just to tell stories in a new way, but to open up the joys of travel to more people. As a Brisbane-founded company, it's exciting to now have our hometown made more accessible to all.”
As Brisbane’s Regional Tourism Organisation, BEDA plays a crucial role in enhancing the city’s reputation as an accessible and welcoming destination for all visitors.
The Vacayit Brisbane Audio Guide offers a unique way for travellers and locals alike to connect with the city - from the riverside to the hinterlands - through an accessible and immersive lens.
